Village Credit Union offers a variety of savings programs.
Share Accounts – At a credit union, a savings account is called a Share Account. A $10.00 deposit in to a Share Account buys you one share of the credit union, making you an equal member-owner. This $10.00 deposit must remain in your account in order to use our products and services.
As a member-owner, you are entitled to take advantage of your credit union’s many products and services. All share accounts are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the U.S. Government, up to $250,000.
Money Market Accounts- Members who want the flexibility and soundness of a savings account, with the added advantage of higher earnings should deposit their savings in a Money Market Account. The Money Market Account provides an extremely sound investment with no possible principal loss.
Dividends earned are based on a three tier method, so the more you save the more you earn. A minimum balance of $2500.00 is required to open an account.
You can withdraw or transfer money to another account up to three time per month or receive as many as three checks per month. If you make more than three withdrawals in a month there is a $10.00 excessive withdrawal fee. Minimum withdrawal amount is $100. There is no limit on deposits.
Holiday Share Accounts - Saving throughout the year with a Holiday Share Account not only enables you to earn dividends on your money, it also provides built-in funds to cover expenses of the holiday season. Dividends are credited annually for this account. No minimum deposit is required. Deposits can be made by payroll allotment, in person, or by mail.
IDAs supplement the savings of households with matching funds drawn from a variety of private and public sources. Qualifying individuals can have savings matched up to $2,000, while qualifying families’ savings can be matched up to $4,000. Parental income may not be included in qualification purposes for college students as long as the student has earned income of their own.
For more information, or to find out if you qualify, please contact us.
All of our youth accounts earn dividends on a lower balance than a regular share account. This allows children to save smaller amounts and still see their savings grow and earn money.

Individual Retirement Accounts – Opening an IRA can provide you with financial security during retirement. For many IRA owners, contributions are tax-deductible and all earnings are tax deferred. Contribution limitations are determined by the federal government. ROTH and Education IRAs are also available at Village Credit Union.
