About Village Credit Union
Village Credit Union (Blue Plans Credit Union at that time) was chartered November 1, 1967, and now has over 2,400 members. Offering a variety of services and a professional staff, the Village Credit Union serves the economic needs of its members.

By a unanimous vote of the membership on December 12, 2006, Blue Plans Credit Union was renamed “Village Credit Union” on April 1, 2007. The credit union will now have a community field of membership that welcomes people who live or work in Polk county and the 7 contiguous counties.

What is your credit union?
Your credit union is a federally insured cooperative financial institution, owned by its members. Unlike a bank or savings and loan association, a credit union is not for profit and dedicated only to serving its members who share a common bond. Credit Union members pool their money to make their collective savings available for low cost loans to each other.

Since credit unions are nonprofit, earnings are distributed to members either in the form of better rates on savings or rebates on loans, or are invested in new or improved services for the members. Once you deposit money in the credit union, you become a member and shareholder. You can then vote for the credit union's board of directors. Officers and directors are chosen from the membership and serve on a voluntary basis.

Contact the credit union with questions.
